Cobra AT-35 antenna power

I have a small mag mount antenna, Cobra AT-35, that I'd like to use. It's
about 2 ft tall with a 3" base - center loaded. Has anyone used this or a
similar antenna with a small amp. Cobra, of course, doesn't give it a power
rating but I'm looking for a practical limit. I'm also afraid of it causing
RF problems to the car's electronics because of a small base.

I doubt you'll be happy with that antenna. Look at a Wilson.

Grounding is the real issue here. With any radio -- ESPECIALLY with a mag-mount
or one of those no-ground-plane antennas -- you can have big problems with your
car's electronics if your radio and amp are not properly grounded; i.e, the
brackets should be bolted to metal and use very short ground leads.

Also, the loading coils in most of those shorties are usually wound with wire
too thin to handle much power. Limit them for what they were designed -- 4 watts
AM and 12 watts SSB.
