Sorry, Buck
There are noise quieting devices in radios that can be fairly efficient at eliminating short duration pulses such as ignition noise. I'm just not familiar with the various radios and their capabilities in this department. Best regards from Rochester, NY Jim "Bjmlittle00" wrote in message ... You are right Jim.....The best radio that I have ever owned as far as the
receiver and Noise blanker go is the Lincoln. It is extremely quiet on the receive and the NB works exceptionally well. Couple that with good grounding and you should have a good, quiet system Buck |

Noise can get into the radio through the power wiring as well as the
antenna. Power directly from the battery is best but also keep your ground wire as short as possible. It sometimes helps to ground the chassis also, especially with magnetic mount antennas. But seriously, most radios made now days have very ineffective noise blankers and are very susceptible to engine/fuel pump noise. You would be ahead of the game to look for notes issued by the manufacturer of your vehicle concerning RF noise. There really is a lot of information to be gained here that a lot of folks tend to overlook. |

ink.net... Howdy, what the best mobile radio for eliminating ignition noise through the antenna? Texas Ranger's ??? Thanks... From what I've read, the Magnum 257 has one of the quietest receivers when it comes to ignition noise. It needs to be modified to work on CB, but it's a very easy mod. I had one a while ago, but got rid of it because of a new car. Someone mentioned in the other replies about eliminating noise, not covering it up, but some of us just aren't that inclined to start hooking up ground wires all over the undercarriage and engine compartment of our vehicles. -- 73! de Andy 2LD751 http://2ld751.tripod.com AOL IM: AndyLD751 Support the "Alternate" Calling Freq 26.285 USB |
