OT- Nasty Weather

Just got my cable and internet back up from the big thunder
boomer's we've been having in Ohio. The town is basically flooded
but the water is going down a bit now. We lost electric for
a good while, thank goodness for the generator.

People lost a bunch of boats to the flood at the rocky river
marina's. What a mess.

Anyone else get the monsoon?

Well, we finally got some rain.... and some severe thunderstorms, and
some hail, and some flooding, and some tornadoes. Like the saying
goes, "Be careful what you wish for".

That's it, there never seems to be a happy medium. This May will
go down as the most rain for Medina, we've had about 6 inches
since weds night on top of saturated ground.

Thanks for the kind words, JJ. I feel bad for the homes lost
and the farmers crops. It's getting ready to thunderstorm here
again..ugh

Might be our turn tomorrow. Iowa's getting pounded now.
We'll be ready.

anymore. I'd still take an earthquake once every hundred
years, good thing I don't live in earthquake country either.

Landshark

I don't live in natural disaster country either, but last night we had our
first tornado warning in my memory. I haven't seen a storm like that in a
*looooong* time. The whole sky was lit up almost continuously with
lightning and there was a torrential downpour.

A lot of folks lost power; it wasn't pretty. I shut down the pc and pulled
the phone line from the dsl modem. Lost the satellite TV a few times as
well (and there is a new 3 head dish up there with signal strengths 50%
higher than when the system was first installed, but still lost the signal).

It is overcast now and hasn't rained in over 12 hours. Still quite a bit of
standing water in the street.

Best regards from Rochester, NY

Mopar,

We had it last night. The whole sky was lit up almost continuously for some
time. We were warned about possible tornados. Lost the satellite tv a
number of times despite a new dish with signal levels 50% higher than when
the system was first installed. A lot of folks lost power last night in the
Rochester area.

Hmmm ... tornado warnings? Better raise the gasoline prices some more LOL
(just put brakes on the car and now I see $2.13 per gallon for gas ... good
grief, now I hear that we have to import *gasoline* as well as oil as the
refineries can't keep up. Prices go higher as the oil companies report
record profits. Better re-elect Bush *not*).

Well, we never get Tornado warnings, a matter of fact,
since I moved out here the only warning we get are for
rivers rising to flood stage. We do get winter storm
warnings for the Sierra, but that's about the only
warnings we get.

The whole sky was lit up almost continuously with

That storm sounds like afternoon time in Tampa Bay during summer. Next
time we have a super light show I'll take some pics.
Glad everything is A-ok up that-a-way. The weather here has been Heaven
sent, lately. The breeze off the water has stuck around much longer than
any have anticipated. The Kingfish are slamming just about everything
you toss at them, the Gag Grouper are on the rocky bottoms, and the
Cobia are sloshing through the beach areas with stingrays on their
backs. A little bit of chum and the bullsharks are in a frenzy, but
nothing beats watching the Clownfish roll over each other.

Sorry to hear about that, the weather here is lovely right now.

We often suffer strong winds and snow here in the winter, and it
is recommended that people carry a shovel in their car just in
case they get trapped.
There are lovely views in this weather, but I hate the winters. We
often lose the electricity in winter, but the area has also been
known to lose it's water supply also.
One thing you need to remember if you live here in the
winter... don't eat the yellow snow.

The kids love it (the weather, not yellow snow). Because so many
teachers come from the nearest city, it doesn't take much for
the snow to shut the schools.

Regards.

Peter.
