Cobra 25 WX LTD Classic mic squeal

I connected a Cobra CA-75 power mic to My Cobra 25 WX LTD Classic and it
squeals like crazy. If I hold it just right it won't but it's too prone to
squealing. The radio is fine with a stock mic and the power mic is fine on
other radios. I have also had another radio with a power mic in the same
vehicle with the same antenna with no problems. Is there an easy solution to
this?

Do you have talk back installed in the radio? manay times if talkback is
installed and the mic is too close to the radio it will feedback. Also
(and this is one of the more common mistakes) is the mic wired properly
for the radio.

I found it! The electret mic element was bad. I have a nearly identical mic
that worked just fine even with the gain wide open. I looked everything over
closely and compared the mics. I noticed one thing. When I put my fingers
close to the mic element, it would squeal. The good one didn't do that. I
found an old electret element lying around, put it in the mic, and it works
just great now.

I had a Uniden Pro510XL doing the same thing a few months back. I think I'll
try a new mic element for it too.

mike elements dont squeal when they go "bad" maybe the connections
were not made properly or the sheilding was broken ungrounded
somewhere on it but congratulations on fixing it
