But here's a new analogy that might make sense to the senseless..... Compare a stock radio to a 4 watt lightbulb -- your radio is basically a night-lite! Ok, so you tweak it and somehow manage to double the output power. Now you have an 8 watt nite-lite. BFD. The variable power control on the front panel does not reduce the output
power, I presume (rightly or wrongly) that there is a pot for the lower power settings that needs adjusting to allow the front panel control to function correctly. Upon further investigation the power varies on am but not fm mode ? so this
surely rules out the variable itself, this pot ultimately connects to the pcb via a small preset variable resistor, which can vary the power according to the mode selected, I suggest you only make comments on subjects that you know something about and not stick your nose in everybody elses business !
