Yeah good call:
I got my old Motorola System 550 Radio out and been chatting with the locals this morning. Man this radio has a built in noise blanker than works great. Usually I listen in on my Icom 760, the older version, and it has a fantastic noise reduction circuit in it. I get some power line noise at times. We are getting ready to have Saturday morning breakfast, with all the CB'ers and Ham guys. We have a separate room at the restraunt with a long table set aside for us. Its great to go out and meet all the people once and a while. I am gonna have Steak and Eggs, fruit salad, and coffee. I love when the Waitress slams down the coffee and asks: "Whats ya gonna have Hon" Jay in the Great Mojave Desert, .... just down the road ah ways from the fillin station. Miss Dinah down at the fillin station has Game Bird Loads in 12 and 20 gages, for a real reasonable price. These are hand re-loaded by Mountain Man (who also has the local 2M and 220 repeater) these loads seem to be able to be effective thru some bushs, as the factory loads aren't. Mole got 6 Quail last weekend with em! Hamguy wrote: I'm gonna have to blow the dust off this 1011-D and 1200-X !!! "Jay in the Mojave" wrote in message ... Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitcheeeeeeeeeen!!!!!!!!!! Bill P. has started a Swan - Siltronix yahoo group: Everyone is welcome cheers skipp This would be the internet equivalent to a bunch of nutcases standing around a stinking outhouse and sniffing below the seat to discuss the odor with each other. Especially considering what a piece of garbage a Siltronix 1011 is. |
Swan sold a lot of equipment and a lot of people were very satisified
with it. Yes they might drift a little but all the radios of that time did. Swan was one of the first to make a transceiver if not the first. Swan was a key player in our history so go knock Collins that should have been right up at the top that also had numerous problems. Swan gave the rest of us something to operate if the person wasn't a homebrew type so rich. Psychiatrist to keyclowns wrote: Skipp is just passing the word wrote in message ... Thinly disguised as a 10 meter rig, it was sold to the CB market. Swan marketed it under the Siltronix name just so they wouldnt be accused of pandering to illegal keyclown CB'ers. No way were hams going to pay that price for a monoband radio, especially one that didnt just "drift"...those junkpiles MIGRATED! |

Supply and demand.. just like you demand food stamps and I supply them. He's just ****ed cause he was out of the loop in the day and no one would sell him one. Much like now. :-) It cost him extra to find out they drift a bit..but he was able to finally purchase one with the money that was supposed to feed his family. That's why he's so bitter about 11 meters. The chip is working, I see. |
