Of course it isnt getting any press it is a dead issue only kept alive by desperate democrats. I'm not a Democrat or a Republican -- I'm an American. I didn't vote for Bush or Kerry because I don't think either of them are qualified for the office. And for that reason I really don't care who won this election. But when it comes time that I -do- care I want to know that my vote is counted and that the election is legitimate. And the issue is not dead -- far from it. It's just getting started. Almost every voting rights organization is criticizing the voting fraud that occured in Ohio. The evidence of fraud is well documented and the election results are being contested based on that evidence. Don't believe me? Browse the internet on the topic. Check out the link I cited. If you can't handle the whole site, at least check out this page: http://freepress.org/departments/display/19/2004/1044 No, the issue is not dead. Not until our elections are more legitimate than that of the Ukraine and other countries, elections that the US is quick to criticize when problems occur -- problems like when exit poll data doesn't fit with the official results. What I can't understand is why some people are so defensive about the issue. Do these people think that the legitimacy of Bush's victory is so shakey that it can't handle scrutiny? Do people want Bush or do they want a democracy? |

I didnt mean you were the desperate democrat, I mean some who write those web sites and keep up the facade of tom foolery with the election. Well, maybe you should look at the "About" page from the site. Check out their history and examine the credentials of it's staff. Then know that that's not the only organization making these claims. There is also the National Voting Rights Institute. Both of these organizations have cried foul in Ohio. And both are staffed by well-educated people who often serve as official election observers for the US and foreign countries. If you want I can give you quite a list of many other such organizations -- most of them non-partisan -- who agree that the Ohio election was a sham. Don't you think the democrats stole votes too? All the more reason to investigate the issue. It would be fantastic to see both parties shot to bits in this fiasco -- it would bust up the two-party cartel and force open the door for third-party candidates, giving the voters some real choices! Each area has democrat and republican stronghold who run thier local governments. The people who run the voting booths can see how who didnt show and cast a vote for them. Let me ask you this Do you have a better idea how to stop this from happening for either side?? Check out some of those organizations and the problems with the Ohio election. Chances are that many of the problems will be solved by court decisions and legislation. That way there won't be any more people conducting the election while being campaign manager for the state. And the companies that own the hardware and write the software for the voting machines can't be a major contributor to one candidate (let alone promise to hand that candidate the state's electoral votes). Anyway, they are the experts, not me. See what they have to say cause they say it better than I could. |
