Does anyone remember how great rec.radio.cb used to be?

Was thinking as I checked my email today how great this group used to be.
Daily there would be technical articles posted and I can't tell you how much
I learned from this group. Questions regarding repairs/modifications were
politely and accurately responded to. Many folks from the group even managed
to have get-togethers sometimes traveling hundreds of miles. Guess that was
the old rec.radio.cb of six perhaps seven years ago, it's pretty sad how
it's become.

Odd, since 20 years ago, it was as bad as it is now. Only the names have
changed.

Hehehe,,I bet you were. No cloned postings/email from Keri the funny
finnish teacher, Yrac, Oxendine, or any of the other troublemakers of
whom you were used to colluding.

Daily there would be technical articles posted

and I can't tell you how much I learned from

this group.

There still are, but you're still on the outside looking in and as
always, because of your inability to find what you seek,
you deny its existence.

Questions regarding repairs/modifications

were politely and accurately responded to.

If you were honest, you'd get a ton of advice to your posted questions
in email, but when you post with a toss-away addy in hopes someone will
email you just in order to get their email origins for nefarious
motives, you reap what you sew. Quit crying and moaning and act like a
man instead of a little girl.

Many folks from the group even managed to

have get-togethers sometimes traveling

hundreds of miles.

Still going on. You just ain't clued in.
Anyone can email me for news of the closest,,,umm,,picnic in your area.

Guess that was the old rec.radio.cb of six

perhaps seven years ago,

For you, at least. Those were the days before
you were forced-educated and made to learn their are consequences for
your actions. Not liking to face responsibility, you were driven
underground, your hammie status remains that of lid.

it's pretty sad how

it's become.

No, it's fantastic. You realized your impotence, yet the fun continues
with cb, and you can't do a thing about it.

Aww,,never mind, John. Your disdain for cber's is there for all to see,
preserved in google archives for posterity. You are an extra class

personal issues with cber's.

Google on-line archives only go back to 1991 or so.

I've been here since 1996, and it was a lot different then.

I filter too. Came upon this thread and the replies when I went hanging
around Google. I had the whole thread killfiled, as well as most of those
who replied. I see about 3 new postings a day with all my filters on.

I did that once - filtering by name, subject, etc.
Considering that the posts to this group are probably 95% rubbish, It is
better to set up an "accept" list of words and senders.

With both "accept" and "kill", I get the best of both worlds... Known trash is either
deleted or unavailable (posts with an attachment are automatically included in that
trash), known good posts are made available and the rest is header only so that I
can chose whether to mark it for download.

Figures for this group, as shown by my news reader:
Messages totally excluded: 676.
Headers in cache: 334
Messages downloaded: 69.
Out of a total of 1010 messages, only 69 are actually downloaded.

Regards,

Peter
