Does anyone remember how great rec.radio.cb used to be?
Was thinking as I checked my email today how great this group used to be.
Daily there would be technical articles posted and I can't tell you how much I learned from this group. Questions regarding repairs/modifications were politely and accurately responded to. Many folks from the group even managed to have get-togethers sometimes traveling hundreds of miles. Guess that was the old rec.radio.cb of six perhaps seven years ago, it's pretty sad how it's become. |

I had the whole thread killfiled, as well as most of those who replied. I see about 3 new postings a day with all my filters on. |

I came on around then. Went away for a while when the madness began. Now I just filter like mad. ;-) I did that once - filtering by name, subject, etc. Considering that the posts to this group are probably 95% rubbish, It is better to set up an "accept" list of words and senders. With both "accept" and "kill", I get the best of both worlds... Known trash is either deleted or unavailable (posts with an attachment are automatically included in that trash), known good posts are made available and the rest is header only so that I can chose whether to mark it for download. Figures for this group, as shown by my news reader: Messages totally excluded: 676. Headers in cache: 334 Messages downloaded: 69. Out of a total of 1010 messages, only 69 are actually downloaded.
