Since they only cost $199.90 new, is the extra $150 to cover the cost of
removing some screws and moving R138 over to the vacant R619 position?
Wouldn't want to lose any of those screws now would we.

I was wondering about the price

Whatever the market will bear,
and for someone too technically challenged to do such a simple mod,
maybe that's their levied honky tax.

I would think that the mod at most truck stops would cost about $25.00 If
they are the shop that sold the radio, they should do the mod for free. If I
did the mod, I would only charge a couple beers or a pizza.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. Gold or Silver or Black, does
not matter. Most of the locals here have paid $300 to $399
for the transceiver that is converted, aligned and the power
set up properly.

I don't convert rigs, just use them, like my truck, I just
drive it, not work on it.
