looking for frequency synthesizer chip
Greetings..
I am looking for a frequency synthesizer chip that will have an output anywhere from 5 mhz to 15 mhz.. or wider.. channel spacing of 1 hz... Any thoughts? Larry ve3fxq |
Because of the availability of examples, the AD9850 is probably the simplest
to use. But some of the newer AD chips will give you cleaner output. They get there with higher frequency oscillators, though, which translates into more power. Most folks clock the 9850 at 100 or 120 MHz. Canned 100 MHz oscillators tend to be pretty power hungry. The 9850 also gets hungry as the clock goes up. At least some of the newer synth chips use less power, but I don't know what you can do about 400 MHz clocks. TI has some VHF/UHF chips that I know some folks have run as low as 50 MHz. These use a crystal in the 20 MHz range instead of an external clock and are pretty reasonably priced. If your objective is to go into a mixer, then you could divide down a UHF synth to get to your 5-15 neighborhood. ... "larry" wrote in message ... Greetings..
