IRLP requires an actual radio link to the "input" repeater, while EchoLink
allows for hams to connect to a repeater using a radio or directly over the
internet using the microphone on their computer.

I do not consider the use of either system as working "DX", but rather as
alternate methods of linking repeaters together, or a different means of
remote operation in the case of EchoLink.
