PK-232MBX software?
 

I just aquired an old PK-232 and decided to try my hand at one of the
digital modes. What would be the best software to try? I am almost afraid to
ask, after reading the highly threaded post for the MFJ. No, I have no clue
as to how it was done in the old days, so don't go after me for that.

Mike any of the following will work
(if you have PC or clone)
Packratt 2
Procomm
Winlink2.9
(or in fact any "Terminal" type software will drive it).
Its even used with Commodores like mine. Also linux has their own
drivers for the PK's. The Commodore requires a hardware adapter
however to change the DC voltages involved from +/- 12 to +/- 5 VDC.

simple terminal program - e.g. HyperTerminal if you use 32 bit Windows.

You should get many answers, but I loved Xpware when I was doing amtor and
pactor. I don't do it any more, so I have not stayed up with these things.
Do a Google search on Xpware.

I have had the best luck with the program Winpack. Get the latest version.
It doesn't do fax or navtex (as far as I know) but for packet or pactor it
is hard to beat. You can set up scripts that you can run to set parameters
on the pk232 to different values depending on what you are doing. If you
change between vhf packet and hf pactor, you can set up a couple of script
files to do the changes for you (e.e. changing baud from 300 to 1200, etc.)
