APRS Text versus MIC-E

Hello,

Does anyone know if there are any advantages/disadvantages to sending
data in MIC-E format over plain APRS text?

Also, my tinytrak 3 data burst "sound" is quite a bit different
sounding than other people transmitting on 144.39.. is this normal or
do I need to calibrate?

Thanks,
Dan

I'm not sure about MIC-E. I think it's abreviated but would work just fine.
As for the tone sounding off.. Yup, absolutly. For some reason mine was WAY
off. It turned out I needed to load with the 1.1 version of the software and
then change the offset to 127. I hooked a counter up to the audio out and
adjusted the tone and got it close. But original the 2200 time was about
1800, with the 1.0 version of software. I can't beleive it was bad software,
Probably a bad download. I have a TT3 in both the mobile and in the pocket
tracker. Both needed to be 127 on the offset and that out then within a few
cycles.
