Anyone in south central ohio work the Andaman Islands?

Hey all...

Recently relocated to Columbus,OH and haven't an antenna up yet
and of course theres a major expedition....
Wondering if anyone within an hour or so of columbus has worked him
and if it would be possible to plan a time that I could stop over and
take a chance???

Thanks in advance...

|Oh boy.
|
|Why not just ask them to work the expedition for you, using your
|callsign? You could just send the QSL card.

I had a local big gun (now SK) call me once and ask me to telephone
him. I did and he reported to me that *I* had worked TYA11 on such
and such a freq and time.

I told him in no uncertain terms that *I* hadn't worked the guy and
wouldn't be sending a QSL, and that in the future, I would do my own
DXing.

But I heard of another guy, recently divorced and QRT, who *worked*
them the same way and maintained his "honor roll" status.

Wes, N7WS, who found and worked the VU4 with my own station, all by
myself.

Ah Sir Walter -- Happy Holidays Old Chap

But on the other hand, I know many DXers who are very pure
1. No DX Nets
2. No Lists
3. No packet cluster assist
4. Always worked from their own station
5. Will not accept relays or help from others in getting the report
6. QRP or 100 Watts Only

I qualify for 1,2,4,5,and sometimes 6 - I go QRO as needed (;-)
Guilty of number 3 (;-)

On the other hand -- a local has one away from honor roll -- all on the DX
nets. Yuk like shooting fish in a barrel
For other readers -- Yeah I know -- ya got a vertical -- so do I.

Yes, it makes a complete nonsense of the "Honor Roll" and DXCC, Wes.
The sadness of it is that, in this day and age, many people seem to
see nothing wrong in such methods.

Well I would qualify for 1,2,5, and 6. Most of the time I qualify for 4 but
if I'm at a friend's house I may use their radio. I worked several stations
from my OM's home before we were married. But I did all my own work to
break the pileup. It wasn't one of us calls, gets them, and then hands the
mic over for the next person. One of us would call til he/she got them,
then the other person would call until he/she also got them.

I and my OM are both hams and have separate stations. However, we
frequently "borrow" each other's setup just to keep from having to swap
antenna cables all the time since we have different antennas.

Yes, I think my qualifications are the same as yours. And I have
only low, wire antennas. No towers or beams.

Absolutely!

BTW, I have never applied for DXCC. I have the cards. I don't need
anything more.

Sterling me man sterling -- I still need 8 more for top of the roll
