be back to normal next weekend.... 73 de Tedd KB8NW

* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain "Pirate/SLIM" operations or
more likely a "BUSTED CALLSIGN". As always, you never know - "Work
First Worry Later" (WFWL).

2M1, SCOTLAND (Satellites and Low-band). Paul, 2E1EUB, is active again
as 2M1EUB/p from Cairngorms National Park near Aberdeen (IO87RJ) until
July 4th. Activity will be on all satellites (but mainly AO7 SSB), 160/80
meters and some other HF SSB. QSL via his home callsign. Also, visit the
QRZ.com Web page under 2M1EUB to see a picture of the location and
QSL info.

4W, TIMOR-LESTE (Update). Xavier, EA3BHK, reported last week on Tuesday
that the 4W6R team flew back home to Spain on a 30 hour flight from Dili
(4W) - Darwin (VK) - Singapore (9V) - Paris (F) and finally Madrid. They
wish to thank the ham radio community for the help and sponsorship. They
made almost 16,000 QSOs, but found that the propagation was not good
enough on many bands. The 4W6R Radiosolidarity Project has become a big
success, now there is a fully equipped ham radio station at the University
of Dili. They hope that this is a seed for having 4W stations on the air
soon and regulary beacause the electronic students were very interested
in this project. Remember to QSL via EA4URE, by the Bureau or direct to:
P.O. Box 220, 28080 Madrid, SPAIN. Meanwhile, reports also indicate that
Jose, CT1ERC, is expected to be there until early August and possibly
operate from that station as either 4W6UTL or 4W6ERC. QSL via CT1ERC.

9M0, SPRATLY ISLANDS (Updated). Operators John/9M6XRO and Steve/9M6DXX
will lead a team of six operators (James/9V1YC, Pete/SM5GMZ, Jay/W5SL
and Tim/M3SDE) to Pulau Layang Layang, Spratly Islands (IOTA AS-051),
some time in March 2009 (1-14th was mentioned earlier). Activity will
be on all bands 80-10 meters, CW, SSB and RTTY, using three stations
(two with full legal limit linear amps). The callsign is to be confirmed
and the QSL information is via M3SDE (direct or by the Bureau). A new
Web site has been set-up for updates, and now it has a poll on it for
what bands are needed. Please visit the site at:
http://www.spratly2009.com/

A3, TONGA (Looking for Dry Weather/Back on The Air!). Paul, A35RK, is
finally getting back on the air after record-rainfall season. He informs
OPDX that the waters are receding, but the bad weather has not only badly
damaged their bush road (4WD required), but the lack of sunshine has
severely restricted his availability of electrical power for several
months. Paul states, "my 'play radio' time has also been limited....to
brief periods of listening and QRP transmissions. However, our batteries
are all charged up now, and I hope that I can be more active." Another
problem has been his InterNet/E-mail access (no service whatsoever from
mid-February until late April; then intermittent service for 2 weeks
in May; and again a complete system failure from mid-May until today).
Paul states that he will be installing a SteppIR "BIG IR" vertical with
the 80m kit as soon as the ground dries out and he gets the house
painted. His 3-element SteppIR yagi is working fine, and the 4-element
6M yagi is also up. Paul was heard this past week on 20 meters SSB
just after 0215z.

AT6, India. On behalf of the Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI),
Prasad, VU2PTT, will be active in the IARU Contest using his special
callsign AT6T as the HQ station. Look for AT6T giving out the ARSI
multiplier on 80-10 meters using CW and SSB during the IARU Contest.
Prasad has permission to use this callsign from July 1st through the
end of September 2008. Look for this special callsign possibly in other
contests as well. As usual, all QSOs will be uploaded to the ARRL's
Logbook of the World (LoTW) and QSL requests may be made to VU2PTT
direct (QRZ.COM) or via the ARSI Bureau. Please use the current IRC for
direct requests, green stamps have a habit of disappearing in the postal
system along with your QSL card. It is also not legal in India to send
or receive currency by postal mail, and the recipient can get into trouble.

CARIBBEAN TOUR. Kenny/K2KW and his XYL Stephanie/KD8GKM will be heading
to the Caribbean next month and will be active from Saba Island (NA-145)
first as PJ6/K2KW and PJ6/KD8GKM between July 1-7th. Next stop will be
St. Maarten where they will be active as PJ7/K2KW and PJ7/KD8GKM between
July 8-10th. Activity will be on the HF bands as well as 6 meters. QSL
via WA4WTG. Visit the following Web page for more information at:
http://pj6-k2kw.blogspot.com/

CQ9, MADEIRA ISLANDS. Operators CT1BOL, CT1DSV, CT1EFS, CT1ENV, CT1FEK
and CT1HFS will be active as CQ9U from Selvagens Island (AF-047), July
24-27th. Activity will include the RSGB IOTA Contest. QSL via CT1BOL.

Island (EU-003), July 9-19th. Activity will be holiday style and mainly
on 20 meters SSB using a FT-857 and End-Fed Zepp antenna. QSL via IZ2LSC,
only by the Bureau or LoTW.

CY0, SABLE ISLAND (Update/Freq Change). The 6 meter DXpedition to Sable
Island is now up and active through July 7th. Operators Pete/VE3IKV,
Dick/K5AND and Chris/W3CMP will be active on CW and SSB. The fixed 6m
station (in FN93) will use the callsign CY0X. They will be transmitting
on 50.108 MHz. The team requests, "Please do NOT send your grid square
as it consumes valuable time during an opening." The operators were
very active this past weekend during Field Day. They will also try to
activate rare grid GN03 if there is a solid opening using a portable
station with a 5 element M2 6M5X yagi with the callsign CY0RA. The team
will also plan on being on HF on 20 meters and 40 meters, CW and SSB -
but the HF operation will always take lower priority over the 6 meter
operation. The special callsign CY0X commemorates the 225th anniversary
of the 1783 Loyalist landing in Nova Scotia:
http://www.loyalistlanding2008.org
QSL via VE3IKV (please include two green stamps). For updates, visit
their Web page at: http://www.cy0x.com

special callsign GB50OT (that's GB fifty OT) on Sundays, July 6th and
13th, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of RAOTA, the Radio Amateur
Old Timers' Association. Activity will be on all bands 80-6 meters on
CW, SSB and Digital modes. An attractive colorful QSL is available. QSL
to GB50OT via the bureau, or direct with return postage via QSL Manager
G3VBE.
