Drake R8
 

Purchased a used R8 and am dissapointed with it's sensitivity. It is properly grounded and fed with a 40 ft. long wire. My Eton E5 with a whip antenna and indoors out performs it. I have noticed when the RF PRE is selected the signal strength drops, also when the RF gain is turned down the signal strength works in reverse and increases ( zero RF gain, max signal meter strength, but speaker drops to nothing) I live in southern Ontario, Canada, any ideas where I can get good servicing. Is Drake still servicing R8's?
Any thoughts of the possable problems and fixes.
