Just a few of my thoughts...
Nowadays more and more people use webpage based dxclusters as as source of information. Recently i have swapped logging programs and it was very hard to log myself into my usual cluster and had to use a web-based cluster, indeed i couldnt react with the dxcluster at all, just take the info spotted. I could post spots, but these went to DXsummmit which is web based. Now i am a strong believer in traditional dxclusters, the guys that get these facilities up and running and keep them ticking over sometimes deserve a medal. The cost of them maintaining packetradio access is not as great as in years gone by but the time and maintainance is still a concern. Not many people are aware of what is involved in keeping the cluster network running smoothly and preventing the abuse which can go on. Remember the websites that provide you with a webpage of dx spots and announcements are getting their information from the original dxcluster network. So i say, wherever possible, support your local dxcluster by using their facilities to the best advantage, its really all the Cluster-sysops ask! Kind regards and 73 Linda http://www.gb7mbc.net |
