Conditions were quite good here in Alabama. Heard and worked KH7X in Hawaii
and heard but didn't work KL7RA in Alaska on Grayline.

Condx good, but not excellent. The link in my signature points to
my log, updated every 5 minutes.
Nothing spectacular heard, just a few new bandpoints.

Good show.....when I was in your country. West Germany at the time. I
could only LISTEN on 160. It is good to see you can use the band like it
should be.

Operating a 160 meter contest from 12 degrees North of the equator is a
challenge, and tolerance for noise is a must! There were storms in the area
during the contest weekend, although things were much quieter the week
before.

From Signal Point in Curacao (PJ2T), I worked 1128 QSOs, 59 State+Prov,
and 57 DXCC countries. 1.3 million points claimed. Currently, it's the #2
claimed score (after VY2ZM).

WAS and WAC first night, but the coutnry total was down 23 below my goals.
QSO total was down 300 from my goal.

I worked both of you. I struggled with S7 power line buzz (which was
not there as recently as the CW NAQP) the first night and part of
the second, then the buzzing stopped when a rain shower moved in
around midnight Saturday. Condx seemed quite good with a few
Europeans pushing close to S9; OK5W stands out as the big signal.

Time to hunt down the arcing power line I guess.

Well you had to be doing something right down there. I was only running 500
out to a "U" antenna, literally thrown over a Hickory tree beside the out
building I have my shack in. With the AC return ground as a radial, a 8'
copper clad ground rod, and a 200' metal fence. So to hear that, you had
something going right.

Good job.

Hope my Alabama qso helped you out. As for the Power Line noise. I've
been fighting that ever since I moved in here. About 5 years now. It is a
constant battle. Fix one, another shows up. On and On and On. At least
Alabama Power is NOW being helpful. Of course I had to get Public Service,
FCC and anyone else that would listen on their case. Good luck.

You will probably find it is loose or burnt insulators and lightning
arrestors and associated hardware.
