Posted here Morrain says High Frequency conditions were often deplorable with extensive interference. He says the Hurricane Watch Net was being relayed locally through both EchoLink and IRLP, the Internet Repeater Linking Project, to help overcome H-F problem. All along the storms projected path ham radio operators trained in emergency communications were in service or on stand-by alert. |
Why did you leave out the part about when the power went, down, so did

I monitored various HF nets in case a relay via the PNW might be needed. Conditions seems normal to a bit below normal, with occasional periods of moderate absorbtion on some paths. Nobody needed a relay via the PNW, but was interesting to listen. My opinion: What good would IRLP or Echolink be when there is no power / telephone to run 'em? Waste of time. -- ... I monitored WX4NHC for more than 20 to 24 hours over two days of
operation on 20 meters. What HF difficulties?? operation on 20 meters. What HF difficulties?? Not worst than HF when your RTX experiment a power failure due to a direct strike... on the antenna or on the main line. Echolink is a marvellous tool even if I prefer by far working on the air.
