Two days ago I downloaded the W6NEK HF Beacon Tracker software from his
website and paid for a registration via PayPal.
I have not heard from him and can only operate in "DEMO" mode on 15M.

Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks.

If you paid with a credit card, put the charge into dispute. I have heard
PayPal causes some real havoc with the accounts of people who have credits
disputed in this way. If it was by a bank account maybe they can issue a stop
payment.

That's a wonderful idea. Ruin the guy's Paypal account over 10 bucks.

Maybe you can get the ARRL's lawyers to sue him for you.

Or better yet, go tell your Mom and maybe she'll send your big sister
to beat him up for you.

Or even better yet, think like an adult (I know, you're a ham, but try
anyway).....

1. What's the chances that the guy who wrote the software thinks 10
dollars is such a huge sum of money that he's waiting by the computer
for PayPal to notify him so he can send you a program key? None.

2. What's the chances that Paypal never told him you paid for the
software? 50/50 maybe.

3. What's the chances that this guy took your 10 dollars and left the
country with it? Slim to None.

4. What's the chances that, as Hank said, he's on vaction for the
holiday. 50/50 maybe.

5. What's the chances his email server is not working or his mail box
is full. Irregardless of what AOL told you about mail, 50/50. Mail
that 'bounced' is like a car that 'broke'. Read the bounce message (it
should be in English) and see if you can figure out WHY it bounced.

And finally, think about this. What's the chances that most people who
read a DX newsgroup on Usenet give a **** about your 10 bucks.

Slim to none.

Go to:

http://www.taborsoft.com/abw/

and download the beacon software there. It's fully functional AOL
HAM KEYWORD: FREE for three weeks. That should keep you busy
and happy until W6NEK gets home from visiting his kids.

Next time you have 10 bucks to burn, go see if you can rent a clue.

Happy New Year,
