Help with Multi-Band Studio 44 Radio

Help with Multi-Band Studio 44 Radio.

Just purchased this radio and I can only get like two Spanish channels
on shortwave.

Do I need a better antenae and if so which kind is the best?

Thanks.

One more thing, this radio is circa 1950 and I have very little
knowledge of shortwave or multiband radio.

I searched some websites but they have helped me very little.

If you seriously want an answer, try changing your name to something
less foul.

Can I? Yes.

You're right - the chances are it is your antenna. The simplest way
to improve it is just to add wire. The best would be a random length
of wire outside and as high and long as you can get it, but even
fifteen feet indoors will help.

Antennas work better at specific frequencies, but you haven't
specified any. That's ok, for reception just a random length should
improve things dramatically. If there is an antenna connection on the
radio, connect it to that (be sure to strip the wire where you connect
it if you use insulated wire). If there is no antenna connection, you
should be able to improve things by simply connecting the wire
(stripped if it's insulated) to the extendible antenna which protrudes
from the radio.

Good luck.

though) :-)
