why do many hams cheat in contests?

a classic is the guy who operates from him home qth,
then claims he operated on "battery power" the whole
time.

for those with substandard reading comprehension, this
does not imply *all* hams who operate from their home
on battery power are contest cheats.

how is this a policy issue ?

do you want the FCC to punish contest cheats? don't hold your breath

how is this related to dx as well

frankly you look like you are just troling or at best felling though
somebody cheated on YOU in the latest contest

So, let's re-cap Mark's wonderful life, shall we:

1) He was drafted into the US Army.
2) He is a member of the Chemical Corps.
3) The military won't let him retire.
4) He doesn't serve under the name 'Mark Morgan', but that's okay, 'cuz
the FBI, DOD, and CIA have all told him he can do it.
5) He is on-the-lam from stalking former marines and fatal attraction
ex-wives
6) He was, until recently, paying $5/hr. to access his ISP
7) He has a 248 IQ, but can't figure out how to use a spell checker.
8) He is a bi-sexual 33 yr. old Pagan male ham who likes to be spanked.

9) He can't find any action on the military base in Central IL, so he
has to ask people on USENET.
10) His best like-minded buddy lives in Glendale, West Virginia and neither
of them can spell.

Have I missed anything?

I could do that. All my home equipment is directly
connected to a deep discharge marine battery that
keeps delivering power when the AC fails. It is
charged by a solar panel.

Because they have very small dics and will do
anything just to get their name in print in the contest
results in either QST or CQ. It's no different than
the 52 year old almost-geezer driving around in
his Mustang GT or 3000Z because it makes up for
the absence of something inside of his trousers....

a classic is the guy who operates from him home qth,
then claims he operated on "battery power" the whole

Or the clubs who operate Field Day running an extension cord into the
nearby buildings to power the SB-220 or Alpha Amplifier. (I've seen
a club which placed 2nd and 1st in their section for the past 6 years
who have done this little trick every damm year. This year the *******
who did it tried to hide the cord with grass clippings because some
had camera phones and he didn't want to have his club check-logged)

No, but a damm lot of contesters break the rules every year
just so they can get that dumb certificate on their wall. If they
don't it's like they were denied their Viagra at the Pharmacy
or something similar....

Indeed if came to that myself I wouldlikely call my op batery or emgncy
power after my home prodcues more more on and day to day basis than it
cumsumes
