As your post says, at the moment you can't afford a more powerful rig, so
enjoy the hobby with the rig you have! On 6M I only run 10W into a home-brew vertical antenna and when conditions are right, it works just as well as some of the more powerful stations. Sure, I could probably achieve a little more if I ran 100W into a more ideal 6M antenna, but where's the challenge then? At least now I have a sense of achievement in the QSO's I have! When you get more funds, then increase your set-up, but until then 10W into a good antenna will still work wonders. Martin, VK2UMJ "Frank" wrote in message ... I'm getting a Yaesu FT-7 (10W) since I'm a novice and - at the moment - I can't afford a big price for a powerful rig... My antenna is a simple diple inverted vee... half-wave (no trap) I was wondering where I could get with this QRP transceiver. Do you suggest to get a 100W rig instead?
