Yaesu FT-2600M turns off when keyed up (SWR OK on Antenna/Coax)
 

I have a Yaesu FT-2600M that turns off when keyed up, then comes right
back on (in all power settings). I know the radio has high SWR
protection and have tested the SWR on my antenna (Comet GP9N with 9913)
and it's extremely low with an Icom IC-V8000 radio at full power. Does
anyone know what could cause this? It wasn't used for a year or so
before this and was working fine. It was mounted in my work van for 3
years. Under the cover it looks bran new with no blown components or
smells. Thanks for any help.

make sure the power connections are all strong and clean. perhaps the
fuse needs replacement, or the ground connection has oxidized.

I have seen similar things when radios try to draw higher current, and
the voltage drops to below threshold voltage for the radio, causing the
processor to restart..

Hi Mike,

RF could be getting back into the radio. RF can do some funky things.
Make BOTH power leads go directly to the battery and for safety sake
fuse BOTH.
Also use heavy enough wire, say 14 gauge or better. Make sure the
antenna connections are clean and good.
SWR protection just backs off the power to a safe level if the antenna
is messed up but will not shut down the radio.
If all else fails reset the CPU. THen reinstall the memories because
they will be lost.

What power supply are you running it with? Perhaps the problem lies there.
I've seen radios shut down on key up and come right back on when the power
supply is inadequate or bad.
