ameritron als 500 amp!

The ALS-500 Manual is on line at URL:
http://www.ameritron.com/ameritron/man/pdf/ALS-500M.pdf

It is dubbed "Instruction Manual". Don't know if Ameritron has a "Service
Manual" per se
URL:
http://www.ameritron.com/ameritron/manuals.php

Of note is that the power output decreases 85 watts per volt as the supply
voltage decreases from 14 volts to 12 volts -- if I read it correctly. Solid
state amps are apparently quite sensitive to power input levels

So measuring the supply voltage AT THE AMP INPUT may be fruitful.

Also they indicate that 70 Watts drive is normally required but up to 100
Watts is acceptable.
