Any hope for my Icom 03AT?

It sounds like the variable resistor for the sound control (volume) has gone
bad. Find a similiar VR for it and you should be back in business. All
you need to do is measure the maximum amount of resistance with it fully
open/closed with a trusty VOM.

?????

Just measure from the ends.

Hi Joel, call up the Icom parts dept.
They have tons of volume controls.
They use the same control for many HT's.
Just 3 weeks ago I received a new volume
control for my 02AT.
My old control only worked in a certain spot about 3/4 up.

Good Luck!

I've had this nice HT for 16 years now, and it's had no problem until
now. The volume control is very flakey -- only works in certain
positions, and sometimes not at all. There seems to be a mechanical
noise, also. Is there any hope for repair at a pracical cost? I've
opened it up and it looks like I could replace the control if I could
get another one. Are parts available? Or is it time to get something
newer? Does the rig have any salvage value? Finally, is there a better
news group for these kinds of question?

Thanks to all.
