Let's honor it for its historic value and the impact it had on our
ancestors.
It was the world information highway for many many decades.

You don't have to learn it or like it or even pass an Amateur Radio exam
requiring it, but all reasonable persons should respect it.

Your WWII Fathers and Grandfathers certainly did. As well as your WWI and
Civil War ancestors. The passengers on the Titanic would have appreciated
Maritime Laws concerning its mandatory use at sea.
