Though I agree in part that E-bay and private ads shouldn't be in "this"
type of news group, I'd much rather see them listed so long as they have
FA/FS, etc as a header than ads for sexual drugs, devices, porn, etc. At
least the radio gear IS on topic. I've put ads here in the past myself for
parts I felt some may be interested in. Some which were for older gear. I
too have seen some interesting ads in here which caught my eye. As any and
all have the option to do, I CAN SKIP THEM if not interested. Just my 2
cents. G.W.

What happens is others see the FA and FS ads and assume it must be OK to
post such, do so, and the group tends to become more of a place for ebay
sellers to hawk their wares than a discussion group. That is what
happened to the boatanchor group, very little discussion about
boatanchors there anymore because the ebay jokers insist on using it to
hawk their ebay ads instead of placing those ads in one of the .swap
groups where they belong. Now anyone who wishes to discuss boatanchors
does not bother with the group because they know it is full of ebayers
trying to get another buck for their junk on ebay. So if you go to the
boatanchors group and skip the FA/FS ads, there isn't anything left
thanks to those who choose exercise their 'rights' and ignore FAQ's and
Charters.

Ebay sellers are responsible for the ruin of a lot of newsgroups. They
don't care about abiding by any FAQs or Charters, they just want to try
to dig another buck out of their auction.

I think people do this because they are insensitve, crude and
inconsiderate, plus they may be greedy and selfish too.

I think that's why they post E-Bay junk here.

It does make me wonder how effective E-Bay is though, if it needs the
extra "help".

I picked up a Yaesu FT-847 on Ebay via a post here.
I paid $675 for it on ebay about a year ago.
The rig is flawless and works great!!
Keep the ebay posts coming!!!

Someone else will be wondering why the heck they can't post ebay ads for
their Hummel figurines soon!

But then again, some people enjoy spam too! 8^)

Don't forget the many which are posted repeatedly for the same item,
or the hourly updates on when the auction closes.

My idea would be to have a special Website for all of the eBay
auctions, and the people who want to look at auction items could go
there, and others could choose not to. They could call it ebay.com or
something, have a search engine, and all sorts of other features.

What a great idea, why did someone not think of this before? That way,
people with six or more working brain cells would be able to go there
and just put in what they were interested in and find it then there
would be no need to spam DISCUSSION newsgroups with ebay ads.
But even is such a place existed, the ebay clowns don't think others
have the capability of using such a sophisticated search engine so it
behooves them to make sure we know about their auction through the
newsgroups.

Mark December 6th 03 05:35 PM

I just exchanged some emails with the owner of this email address, and he
says he didn't post these messages from radioman:

"I did not post that message. Someone must have used my Email address. I
have never visited the Newsgroup you mentioned and wouldn't even know how to
find it. The radioman Email address is one of my Email addresses, but I
seldom ever use it."

So what's worse, posting auction listings on this NG or being a fraud and an
identity thief?
