Need advice on tube glue
One of my 572Bs is loose in its base. It works ok, but whatever glue they
used to attach the glass envelope to the base has let go. Friends have recommended everything from Elmer's GlueAll to CrazyGlue, but I wonder about their ability to stand up to the heat. Any advice on what to do? Thanks. Mike, N4PDY |
Try using gas engine rtv silicon for gaskets. It is high temp, and cures
to a solid... Bob N9LVU Michael White wrote: One of my 572Bs is loose in its base. It works ok, but whatever glue they used to attach the glass envelope to the base has let go. No, gasket silicon cannot shrink that much, it would defeat the purpose
of being a gasket needing to be oil/water tight...... Bob N9LVU Steve Nosko wrote: Ooooo I'd be warry of shrinkage upon cure. Could crack something if expansions aren't matched too |
