ICOM-751 dead, help
ICOM-751 dead, help
I was using my radio just fine, than I unplugged it and moved it a few feet and now it is almost dead. I can hear a relay engage when I first turn it on and fall off about 10 seconds after I turn it off. What happened? |

Burt, the first step would be to check the voltage output of your power supply under load. Win |

I can hear a relay engage when I first turn it on and fall off about 10 seconds after I turn it off. What happened? If it has never been replaced it is possible that what happened is that you had a battery failure in the RAM board. There is a resonable chance that unplugging the radio and moving it was just the last straw for the old battery. This will leave you with a very dead radio. See the following for details.... http://www.willcoele.com/ http://home1.gte.net/rhashiro/am-rad...m-ramboard.htm Also it is possible to change the battery and reprogram your own board but it may be a little involved.... http://www.geocities.com/emailsrikan...omram/RAM.html I think you can still send them back to Icom for battery installation and reprogramming as well. I would suggest a Google search for - Icom 751 memory board - there is a lot of information out there. Curtis |

The 751 will still power up without a ram unit in it. You just can't do
anything with it, strange stuff on the display etc. -- Clif Holland, KA5IPF AVVid Authorized Kenwood and Icom Service Center 816 W Shady Grove Rd Irving, TX 75060 www.avvid.com 1-800-214-5779 972-870-0630 (local) "Curtis Eickerman" wrote in message ... "My TV is dead." "Oh, is the picture completely black?" "Uh, no." "Well what does it look like?" "It's all fuzzy." "You mean blurry?" "Uh, no. It's like sand." "You mean snowy?" "Uh, yeah. I guess." "And is there no sound at all?" "No. It's fuzzy too." "You mean people are hard to understand?" "No. It's like the picture." "Oh, you mean just a hissing static sound?" "Yeah. Like I said, it's dead." "Do you have an antenna or cable system hooked to the TV?" "What's that?"............ Curtis |
