Supplier recommendation: Allied vs. Mouser

Any reason to prefer ordering from Allied Electronics or from Mouser,
assuming that both claim to stock what I want at similar prices? I've
never ordered from either before.

Or is there a still better company with which to deal?

I've had good luck with DigiKey.

Yes, now I remember hearing of them too. But as I thought of other
things to order at the same time (specifically some Anderson Powerpole
connectors), I found that Allied is the only one of the three that
carries them.

I've used both a little. However, just comparing catalogs, I prefer
Allied for the sheer volumne of stuff they carry.

I do business with both of them through my job. I have
no complaints with either. Based solely on price, I'd
probably choose Allied. Someone else mentioned DigiKey.
We also buy from them. Likewise... no problems.

I'm glad to hear Allied is still in business! I had thought they closed up
long ago. Hmmm. Will have to give them a new look-see. As to Mouser, good
service.

Allied, Mouser, Digi-Key or Newark, doesn't seem to really matter. Sometimes
one has an item/brand another doesn't. I often start w/ Mouser then
Digi-Key.

One thing about Mouser is that they have no minimum order via internet and
their shipping is very fast.

Jim Haynes June 21st 04 09:16 PM

On an order for some military-style connectors I found Allied's price was
quite a bit higher than Newark's.
