receiver desensitizing process

I just got my TH-F6A a couple of weeks ago, but haven't really used it yet. A few days ago, I tried to test the TH-F6A's receiver by using one of my Midland GXT 400 GMRS/FRS radios (supposedly puts out 4 Watts maximum). I set the GXT 400's power output to low (3 settings are available -- High, Medium, and Low). I then tuned the TH-F6A's A-band receiver to the frequency corresponding to GMRS channel 1 and transmitted a couple of times with the TH-F6A about a foot or so away from the GMRS radio. Well, just a few hours ago I learned about how receivers can be desensitized by nearby (I hate it when I find out about things like that after the fact). So now, I'm worried that I have just ruined my brand new rig. I'm wondering how the desensitization process occurs -- does maximum damage occur during the first few hits, or is it a more gradual process? The massive croos-posting would suggest this is a lame'ish troll. |
