I recently purchased the software program for cloning and programming
the FT-51R handhelds. About a month ago i saw a message here on this
newsgroup talking about changing one number in one of the files
associated with this software to extend the receive freqs to cover 100
mz to over 700 mz. I saw two postings about this mod and evidently it
was implemented successfully. Any information on this would be greatly
appreciated. Please email with info.....Tnx....Bill in Las Vegas....

Bill:

I was curious, so I called both Yaesu tech support and RT Systems (the
makers of the programming software).

Yaesu said it wasn't a "recommended mod", but that the software freq
change using the programmer shouldn't hurt the radio.

When I called RT Systems, the gentleman I spoke with said the radio was
only capable of receiving from 100-180 and 375-525 MHZ. Anything out of
those freqs would not be heard at all...

Does this help you any?

The actual mod:

Go to win.ini and look for a section that contains ALLOWANYFREQUENCY = 0.
Change the 0 to a 1. RESTART WINDOWS. You can then program in just about
any frequency FROM YOUR PC...THIS DOESN'T CHANGE THE KEYPAD ENTRY, but
only freqs in the range above will be heard.

So?

Start a thread asking whatever it is you want.

Don't dredge up a 20 year old post, quoting all the text, and then not
having anything really relevant to add.
