Mystery signal on 60 Meters....tv?

When I lived in Denver I heard it. When I got my FT-840
I heard it so that kinda rules out a birdie. When I got my
brand new shiny FT-857D last week I heard it, too!

It basically ruins 5.366.50. Sounds like a TV oscillator?

Turn your CRT monitor off and try again.

Also, check properties and look at the scan rate. It's what, 48.3KHz ? (mine
is at present) Tune up and down and you should hear it again every 48.3KHz
throughout the spectrum. Or whatever your scan rate is.

Flat scren don't do this. The other solution is to move your antenas as far
from the computer as possible, but with most people's luck, you'll end up
closer to the neighbours computer.

Now that's a great idea! Mine was set to 60 so I moved it to 70 and
re-adjusted the screen. Bingo! No more interference.

Yes - I realise I just moved it to another spot but it was only noticable
on 60m. On 40 it's a non factor and I generally only operate on certain
160/80m freqs. It's not there, either.

Whenever I see losers here impersonating someone else, I feel sad.
Fortunately for the hobby, the impersonators aren't usually hams, and
they are usually underachievers who disappear after a while. They
live in the basement of their divorced mothers' house (until age 40).

For reprisal to me, I'll probably get a few forged postings claiming
to be me. That is why this, and every future posting I do in r.r.a.*
groups, will be PGP signed. If it ain't, it ain't from me.
