ICOM IC-2710 Crossband

Has anyone successfully used the ICOM IC-2710 dual-band transceiver
as a crossband repeater - received signal coming in on, say, 440 MHz
on Band 1 automatically triggers the transmission on 146 MHz on Band
2?

The manual goes into length about doing this when the operator
pushes the PTT but that's not what I want.

As with most rigs which have a crossband repeat function, you'll
probably to use some sort of manual method to ensure that the radio
IDs itself legally (once per ten minutes), with your callsign, on each
of the bands on which it is transmitting.
