Need some assistance with Yaesu FT416

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me get out of this noisy mess I'm in with my
Yaesu ft-416 handheld.

Seems the squelch is constantly staying open - the knob has no effect.
I figure I managed to hit some key combination inadvertently, as it's
got tons of hidden little functions, etc. The reset trick (MR + VFO +
2) has no effect either.

Thanks for any help you can send my confused way.

73,
Gary

I recently had the same problem on an older Icom dual-bander mobile
rig -- the repairman replaced the potentiometer (the variable
resistor) the squelch knob was attached to.

If all else fails -- if it isn't any of the rig's software programming
functions -- it may be the little pot the knob is operating.

(Of course, you've made sure the knob is screwed tightly to the
pot...)
