yaesu MH-34 mic, can someone tell me what the receptacle's for?

I just bought a Yaesu VX5R and the seller included an MH-34 clip-on
microphone. On the under-side of this clip-on mic is a receptacle for a
jack, and I don't know what it's for --- can someone tell me what the
receptacle's for?

It is an earphone jack. I use it at fests, with the mike close to my
chin on a pouch strap.

Yes.

I use the combo when there is a lot of background noise where I am,
and need to hear the radio.

Happy trails,
