Well aren't you a bitter little bunny? hmm? Instead of bitching, pehaps you should check back through the lists. You received THREE replies. Brad. |

There were two significant responses to your request, both posted in June 26th, by Travis Jordan and by myself. You should be able to see the whole thread using the following URL: http://groups-beta.google.com/group/...26bf4930e0ea50 Possibly there was a problem on whatever news server you use, which prevented your from seeing them? To summarize the responses: - You can't use VHF marine radios for non-marine applications (at least not here in the U.S.) - MURS radios might be suitable, as they are VHF and do not require a license (again, here in the U.S.) - A lot of the cheaper GMRS radios are not really much better than FRS radios, and may not suit your needs. - Entry-level VHF ham radios can be had for about $100 each, and are likely no more expensive than decent GMRS radios and are probably cheaper than MURS radios. They do require licenses to use. They're probably your best bet if all operators are (or are willing to become) licensed amateur radio operators. -- Dave Platt AE6EO Hosting the Jade Warrior home page: http://www.radagast.org/jade-warrior I do _not_ wish to receive unsolicited commercial email, and I will boycott any company which has the gall to send me such ads! |

I hope he don't plan any unlicensed family type "recreational use of hand held radios" operation around my neck of the woods, I'l call Riley in a New York heartbeat. |
