When you say you set 'it' to a baud rate other than 4800, what 'it' are
you talking about.

You need to set the baud rate on both the radio and the software
program.


It don't matter how I set the baud rate at the com port,the radio isn't
recognised unless I set the 817-Commander to 4800,the slowest setting.
Btw,how do you set the radio baud rate? There is no possibility on the
817.You can set the bps on Icom radios,but not with the 817
