Asking for owner comments - LDG AT-1000 Auto Tuner
I would like to hear from owners of this auto tuner about any operating
quirks / hints / tips. Mine arrives tomorrow and while I have already downloaded and devoured the manual there is nothing quite like hearing straight from other hams. I have read the eHam reviews but still would like to hear more remarks.. TY -- Charlie-AD5TH www.ad5th.com |

Hey Charlie,
I have a few of them. One in my truck has about 200,000 miles on it, from a few Ford Explorers... It seems to tune well. My antenas are typically bug catchers but also have one in my Chrysler LXI minivan. A great little tuner. I would also look at the MFJ, but I have not personally seen or tried it. Frank KG9H |

It simply remembers any frequency I "visit" and when I return to that band/frequency, it is there, and I mean right NOW! I am not a fan of "tuners", however due to the civilian and military frequencies I am authorized, I simply couldn't put up enough antennas to cover it all. So, using my inverted Vee and and Antron 99 (to take advantage of polarization of others on the higher frequencies), I can do all I need to do. I *may* not be the loudest fella on, but I DO get good reports, AND good reviews from other LDG owners. Hope this helps. 73 Jerry |

.... i have an AT-100 too. it's absolutely wonderful! i used for a
time a 25 feet aluminum pipe lee than one inch in diameter, and a few radials, God only knows what size. that setup brought in for me everything from Argentina west, to Korea east. I think the '1000 is a definite improvement, albeit a little expensive for me. I didn't even think to look at other ones. Besides, Dwaine's service is flawlees! A most important parameter, even more so with the difficulties with getting service here in 4Zulu land. Saandy 4Z5KS Jerry wrote: "Charlie" wrote in message ... Hi Charlie,
I have owned mine since 2003. I have used it with an AL-811 on an 80m loop and an 160-10m "Cobra Ulyra-lite" antenna. It worked very good on the loop,BUT I had some matching problems at 160m. I finally got it all working by adjusting the feedline lenths on that antenna. The ant. comes with 100ft. of ladderline, which I then connected to the Radioworks "remote Balun"/ 4 to 1,and the to 20ft. of rg-213. It wouldn't tune there! On 160m, at about 1930mhz, it just quit! I had to change the LENTH OF THE COAX to 50ft. ! ! I don't know why,but it works!! The TUNER.........well, I have to say that it makes a lot of noise,BUT It works great, and i would buy it again!!! Good "radioing" my fellow ham, RayN KB1-GHH |
