What are the known issues w/ Kenwood TS-850?

I've heard a lot of good things about the TS-850, and got to use one at
Field Day the last few years. So I'm thinking about buying one, but
want to avoid any "duds" if they are identifiable.

I've noticed a few ads telling about selling the 850 for parts because
they bought one used "as is" that didn't really work as advertised.
There have been references to serial numbers, like the 60K mark due to
a modification capability, but I'm not too concerned about that
particular mod. Your thoughts?

One of Kenwood's great rigs IMHO. Had one for many years with no troubles.
For RTTYor contesting, it would run keydown for long periods -- big heavy
duty heatsink.
CW filters are quite good
The dynamic range was superb, better than my latest TS-870S.

RE Duds -- When I buy used gear, I ask the seller for a guarantee that the
rig is fully operational in all modes and bands.
Then I test it with my HP equipment for power output, sensitivity, etc.

CL -- I doubt, therefore I might be !
