ICOM 740 PROBLEM

Does anyone have an easy solution to the following problem?

ICOM IC-740 10m-160m 100 Watt HF Transceiver. NOT IN WORKING ORDER. the
radio powered up as it should, with the analog meter lighting and
reacting to incoming signals, and the large, bright LED frequency
display looked great. The large dial WAS rotating through frequencies,
the frequency band switch WAS switching, the squelch WAS working and
the radio WAS receiving and sounding great BUT it IS NO LONGER WORKING
AS IT SHOULD. As soon as I turn the radio on, it shuts itself off. I
see the lights and hear sound for about half a second and then the
power just dies. When I turn the on/off switch off, then repower up, it
comes on again for a split second.

Thanks very much,
Don, WB3DNF

Do you have the PS-740 internal power supply installed?
