Push up mast?

Hi,

Radio Shack used to carry a 30' push up mast. It was segmented into 3
(4?) parts, with guy rings at the junctions. Much sturdier than the
standard 1.25" masts commonly available. They were useful for small
beams, but more so for supporting inverted Vs and dipoles. According
to the local RS stores, they no longer carry them, and they don't seem
to be available at the RS web page, though there is a "heavy duty"
stackable section available. Anybody know of an equivalent mast
today?

I got a pair of professional grade, heavy duty self locking extendable paint
roller handles, they extend up to 24' and are heavy enough for a small beam or a
larger vertical. I used some key rings to attach the top guys slipped over the
top threads.

Bob,

Now that is a really clever idea? Will look into it. A few other
applications come to mind.

They may have quit also but Lowes lists them.

Alan;

www.randl.com carries the ROHN telescoping masts in 30, 40, 7
50' models.
They are in Ohio, and unless a ROHN distributor is nearby your
QTH, truck freight will be the only choice. BE careful & use gloves.
Good luck,
Jim -K4SQR

All,

Many thanks for the various pointers. I checked with the local
Lowe's, and the 30' mast is a special order item. They are seeing if
they can order me a couple. If that falls through, I will probably go
with the Rohn.

Lowes Hardware stores carry a good sturdy one.... both 3 and 4
section models, I believe.
