Can anyone describe what kind of memory back up battery this radio
uses?

How easy is it to replace, etc?

As far as I know, the 746 uses non-volatile memory and there is no
back-up battery.

Russell-

Do a google search for IC-746_Service_manual. It is 50 megabytes, so I
can't eMail you a copy! (It may also be available at www.mods.dk.)

I did a quick search, but didn't see a battery. It may use non-volatile
memory so a battery isn't necessary.
