Default unclipping Furuno FS1503 for lower sideband

I am trying to help someone out who is currently cruising and can not
contact Furuno. THey are trying to use their FS1503 on lower sideband
but there is some 'unclipping' procedure required to enable lower
sideband. Does anyone have the details on this procedure? They seem to
think its a keying sequence on the controls. I'm pretty sure there is
a jumper which needs to be clipped.

Any help would be great.

Patrick,

According to the Furnio FS1503 manual, found at:

http://www.furuno.com/Furuno/Doc/0/L...M1UFA54/FS1503
+Operators+Manual+Version+C.pdf

The Mode key selects the class of emission. Each press of the
[Mode/1] Key steps the emissions selector through a selection of several
modes, LSB*, J3E (USB), AM, TLX, and FAX.

However, please note that the first selection of LSB is marked with an
asterisk and is indicated as "available with system setting by FURINO
authorized service agent." This would indicate to me that the LSB
setting is therefore only available as a choice after the radio has been
modified by Furnio service tech.
