Amateur radio 2 meter license

Hello all,

I am finding out about getting a GMRS license, and I guess there is
no test for it but the cost is $75.

How about for Amateur radio for the 2 meter band? Is there a test, a
test and a fee, or just a fee.

Also, if there is a test, is it able to be done on the interent
through FCC.gov, or how does that work?

Thanks.

Test and fee. The test covers electronics and RF theory, Part 97
rules, and amateur service operating practices. Commercial traffic is
prohibited, just as on GMRS.

http://www.arrl.org should contain much of the info you will need.
It is not possible to take exams online. They must be taken in person.

My advice would be to find a ham radio club local to your area,
and see if they have any license instruction classes coming up.

Good hunting.

i'll give you a -2 on your poor attempt to troll... thankfully the FCC
remains committed to examination and testing for the three amateur radio
licensing levels in the U.S...

and from what i listen to on 80M, there are even experienced hams who don't
know how to properly use an amplifier...

NCI was founded by a bunch of whiners without brains, initiative or skills

NCI is part of the "Me-Me" generation of losers without a work ethic and
with little regard for learning, courtesy, or common-sense traditions in
amateur radio...

how's that for a troll?

Much better than the original. At least this one has some truth to
it.
