TROUBLE GETTING VX-2R YAESU REBATE

I bought the Yaesu VX-2R from The Ham Station (Evansville IN) at the Fort Wayne
IN hamfest. I sent in the application to Vertex for the $50 rebate.

My friend got his but I didn't. So I wrote them a letter with copies of all
the documentation that I submitted he first time. I received no erply and I
have not received the rebate.

I notice the ads in QST still show the $50 rebate as being in effect.

I met all of the deadlines with time to spare. Anyone have any clues?

Incidentally, it's a great little rig.

I also am waiting for rebate on ft-817, bought Dec. 11. I have contacted Yaesu
by phone and e-mail and the answer I get is they are swamped with rebates and
getting them out as fast as they can. It appears there is no order as to how
they handle them. Ours, which were sent in early are at the bottom of the
pile.(HI)

Same here. Bought an FT-817 also just after xmas and still waiting.
I believe that Yaesu has all of 5 employees in the USA. Everything
else seems to go 'thru channels' back in Japan first. I guess this is what
one is to expect when you buy radio gear that is 100% dominated
by a Japanese owned manufacturing monopoly structure. Not much
different from rebate and credit offeres I've had to wait for 3-5
Months for photography equipment from Minolta and Canon.
This could be called the 'slow boat to Asia' syndrome - grin.
