How long to fill up a log-book and why?
It took me 18 years to fill up my first log-book,
and in the subsequent 17-year period I have only half-filled my 2nd, despite following all the rules and regs to the letter as regards noting down all CQ-calls and harmonic tests. I think this is because the _REAL_ Radio Ham, the person woth having a chat to, is few and far between, with the net result that I spend more time listening than I do TXing. Oddly, with the 2M rig left tuned to S20, it is surprising the number of recent licensees who act as a closed user-group, seemingly calling their previously-10-4-buddies and no-one else. Perhaps with the advent of the CB-style of licence (the M3 here in Britland, probably the no-code techy in Yankland) it is fated that I will never complete the 2nd half of my 2nd log-book? What are the experiences of the rest of you. Has the influx of INCURABLE CBER's dampened your ardour? |

Its not going to make a jot of difference what any of us think, the fact is its here, we've got it. Now posting up this same sort of rant every other day is just going to make you unpopular. Learn to live with it or find another hobby. Im sure you have skills that you could help your local M3's with, so instead of putting them down, try and bring them up to your standard. 73 deBaser |

You must write VERY slowly. No, it's simply that _NOBODY_ wants to talk to YOU. Perhaps with the advent of the CB-style of licence (the M3 here in Britland, probably the no-code techy in Yankland) it is fated that I will never complete the 2nd half of my 2nd log-book? Poly Parrot squawked Perhaps with the advent of the CB-style of licence (the M3 here in Britland, probably the no-code techy in Yankland) it is fated that I will never complete the 2nd half of my 2nd log-book? May I remind you of your own words: "The technical excitement motivates Radio Hams to compete with each other to determine who has designed and manufactured the best-quality station. This competitiveness is found in DXing, competitions and fox-hunts." Given that your station will no doubt be such a "best-quality station" why don't you go in for a contest - the Worked All Europe CW is currently on - this gives you DXing and competitions both at the same time and uses those CW skills which you advocate. In any major contest you should be able to easily fill your log in a weekend and get DXCC to boot. But I'm surprised that you haven't written your own software for a computer logging program. Or perhaps your station isn't yet in the "best-quality" class - but I guess the truth is that the operator isn't. |

You are not supposed to quote his own gospel back at him - he doesn't like it when its terms are applied to his own behaviour. from Aero Spike |

ROFLMAO "Ol Spikey" don't like the tables turned on him at all..... "I learned plenty.... Specifically to "turn around" comments when the opportunity arises, and watch the fallout, Hi Hi! (Do you remember making a similar comment that someone had got the better of me?) Like I said...I think he got the better of you on that one, Spike old son...... Oh dear... I have repeated myself. Just as you did earlier in this thread." Stan. "Don't worry dear.... It is only a game of "Armchair Warriors"! :-) |

It took me 18 years to fill up my first log-book, rest of crap deleted Your own words prove your commitment to the hobby (or craft as you freemasons say), eighteen years for one log-book, your are not very experienced are you, you appear to talk the talk (very poorly) but cant walk the walk. No right minded person will talk to you on radio, it makes one wonder why you appear to have no offspring. Your relationship with PLOD appears more intimate than that with Liz (must cost a fortune in batteries). |
