bring that ugly thing in here. I told you I wanted a puppy."

I'm not a ham, nor do I use a cb.
Now, right now, is when I'm deciding not to get involved with radio at
all. If this is the "community" my friend keeps talking about, well,
I'm just going to stick to computers.

Most of what currently fills this newsgroup up is the work of a small
group of psychopaths who for some strange reason enjoy insulting one
another in a public forum (I suppose that way they have an audience as
opposed to taking it to email). They do not accurately represent the
'average ham' in any way, shape, or form. While you will find a few
nuts on the bands (e.g., jammers who do not identify themselves) the
vast majority are friendly folks who love radio, comply with Part 97,
and love a good ragchew.

I highly recommend you ignore the childish ad-hominem attacks in these
groups. Most newsreaders have filtering capabilities. Use them.

Sendplease:

I would be interested of where you hang out on your computer.

In IRC, IM, chat/discussion groups on the computer, etc. I see little
difference, sure you are still in the land of the living, what you speak
of is more likely to exist in heaven...

Anon:

Excellent recommendation to give the man, we will miss him, but we will
manage to get over it... tongue-in-cheek

Loosing the ones which have the mindset "the world revolves around me and
my likes/dislikes" is always really tough! straight-faced-looked

They don't accurately represent the CBers either. I use both Ham and CB. One
thing is for sure, No one is being attracted to either hobby by those
actions. Pretty soon, people may also start turning away from the news
groups as well - due to it. I know one ISP who refused to carry them -
partially for just that reason. It is a shame.
