Anybody ever tried connecting both sections of the valve together and
using this device on HF instead of VHF?
Not a good idea. This dual tetrode is internally neutralized for
push-pull operation (the little crossover "twigs" above the anodes) but
in a parallel connection that same capacitance will appear as unwanted
anode-grid feedback.
Its cheap and is good for 100W
max output with 1kV anode potential.
The QQV06-40A is not capable of a clean 100W output on SSB! Many have
tried over the years, and all have either failed or become extremely
unpopular on the air.
If you want higher power at low cost, go for a GI-7B triode.
